Oakland Cottage was built in 1910 as a craftsman cottage, and spent part of its early life as the Watkins Sanitarium, then the Oakland Sanitarium, before being renovated into the inn it is today. The living room still centers on the original fireplace, and the house opens up with porches, a sun porch and a fully fenced back yard.
Your innkeepers are Jim and Erica, with assistant innkeeper Britt. They cook your breakfast each morning, keep coffee and tea out all day, and are glad to help with dining and tour reservations, discounted Biltmore and trolley tickets, and local advice. Families, groups, medical and business travelers, and dogs are all welcome here.
Erica brings a restaurant and B&B background from up and down the East Coast to the breakfast table, and studies sustainable tourism. Ingredients come as local as possible, including from Jim's garden and Erica's backyard flock. It is a down-to-earth house, run by people who love hosting.
